hey all, I have a magellan 1470. I just updated magellan's software
which I had not updated since I bought it in october 2009

is there a way to turn off the pop up message when it is not getting a
signal? Its for idiots who don't know any better and its
irritating!!!! Its a feature that wasn't in the original package before
the update.

also, I've put the content manager in the start up folder, but it won't
start up after win7 loads.

any know what map the current version is for 1470? CM reports the map
version at 35 and says its up to date.

Did you put the executable there or a shortcut to it?

Your problem results from putting the executable there. Sitting in that
location, it no longer knows where to find its data and program
segments. Or if you have removed the .exe from its name, Windows
doesn't know what to do with it.

Put the file back where it was, then right click on it and select
"create shortcut" from the menu. It will offer to put it on the
desktop. You can do that and then move the shortcut to the start
folder.

Two answers to your question:
1. The icon for a shortcut usually has an arrow in its lower left
corner (though that can be configured not to happen).

2. Right click on the icon and look at its properties. On the General
tab of the resulting screen, the type will be Application or Shortcut,
as appropriate.
