Updating RoadMate 1200

Just wondered if there were easy updates for sites for the RoadMate.

I took my daughter to a late breakfast a while back when she came out of
surgery and being after 1pm, I figured the only place would be IHOP. She
was starved and grumpy, and it didn't help when the first IHOP wasn't there
any more, and had to drive 11 miles to the next one.

It would seem to me that companies that would be in the database would have
a vested interest in making sure consumers could get to the latest and
greatest data.

I haven't looked into the data on the RoadMate for that matter. Are
destinations like restaurants and such something that can be added manually
to the unit? Or is the only way to buy the $80 update?

I had a Roadmate 1200 until it self destructed into a doorstop. Seems it
came with software for adding POI.

Hmm, I have the CD, but it just seemed to be the owners manual...

I have three of the things. The first I got as a gift, and it was cheap so
I bought two more for my daughter and my girlfriend. I figured it was worth
it to have a single 'knowledge base'. It's pretty basic, but I do like the
unit. But now I see some tom-toms that are cheaper. Oh well...

Mine was one disaster after another after the first couple of years.
Finally got California Department of Consumer Protection involved and
Magellan gave me a Maestro 3200 to shut me up.

Just dug out a POI Manager (application) that I had for my 700. Appears
to be fully functional. It is dated March 22, 2005. You want it; you can
have it.
